US visa fee change



Effective Wednesday, December 1,2010 the United States consular sections in India will adjust the consular exchange rate from Rs 46 to the dollar to Rs 47 to the dollar, thereby increasing all rupee-denominated costs of applying for visas and passports at the U.S. Embassy and Consulates General. Effective December 1, 2010, the visa application fee at any of the designated branches of the HDFC Bank will require a payment of:


For Tourists, Business and Exchange Visitors, Students, Crew members: B1/B2, C1/D, F1/F2, J1/J2, M1/M2 ---------------- $140 Rs. 6580

For Temporary Employment: H1-B, L1/L2, O-----------------------$150 Rs 7050.
1/O-2/O-3, P1/P2/P3, R1/R2


L1 Blanket Visa Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee $500 Rs 23,500

L1 Blanket Border Security Act Fee $2,250 Rs. 1,05,750 Receipts issued by HDFC banks before December 1, 2010 that reflect a payment of $140/$150 at the previous exchange rates will still be honored.
